Corrections

 Students completing the Corrections program at Southern State Community College will  

  • Explain the institutional and non-institutional aspects of contemporary corrections.
  • Contrast the operations of jails and prisons in terms of safety, security, classification, and programming.
  • Communicate effectively in written reports, during interviews, and interpersonal exchanges.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the foundations, principles, and limitations of criminal law.
  • Identify ethical and unethical behavior in a criminal justice setting.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of correctional counseling, treatment, and intervention practices.
