Nursing

 Students completing the Nursing program at Southern State Community College will  

  • Value the individuality and dignity of each client as a person through an understanding based on knowledge acquired through study of the humanities.
  • Synthesize knowledge of basic human needs and communication skills gained by study of scientific principles and knowledge of human response.
  • Use the nursing process effectively to perform a health assessment, select nursing diagnoses, plan and implement nursing care and evaluate the outcome.
  • Apply knowledge of health and health continuum in providing and managing care for clients of all ages with commonly occurring acute and chronic conditions and groups of clients in various health care settings of the community.
  • Utilize the ethical and legal principles applicable in the practice of nursing.
  • Demonstrate active, continuous participation in the teaching-learning process of personal professional development.
  • Support nursing as a profession through knowledge of changing trends in nursing practice.
  • Identify nursing research applicable to client care.
