Technician Certificate
Students completing the Pharmacy Technician certificate
program at Southern State Community College will
- Articulate
the history of medicine, ethical and legal aspects of drug
dispensing, the role of pharmacy technicians, pharmacy
terminology, and dosage calculations.
- Identify
materials needed for the scope of pharmacy practice.
- Demonstrate
working knowledge of pharmacy management and operations.
- Demonstrate
knowledge of safety in the workplace including handling of
infectious and hazardous waste.
- Demonstrate
knowledge of basic biology of the human organism.
- Demonstrate
knowledge of health care delivery system including history and
definition.
- Identify
the multi-disciplinary skills required in a health care
environment including OSHA measures and guidelines, infection
control, and measurement of vital signs.
- Document
patient symptoms, conduct patient assessments, and validate a
patient's understanding of their disease and treatment.
- Institute
appropriate response to various emergency incidents including
cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Demonstrate
understanding of privacy and ethical issues in the medical
environment.
