Student Success Plan

Southern StateCommunity College is committed to student learning and success.  In an effort to demonstrate our accountability to this end the college has outlined the programs and services already in place that ensure student success. Also, check out our college portrait to see detailed data regarding student characteristics, student success and progress rate, as well as valuable information about financial aid awarded to our students.

Student Support Services – Through these services students can access support services that assist with the learning process and engage them in the college environment.

Program Outcomes – Faculty within each program at Southern State establish expectations for students enrolled in a particular program and develop measurements to assess the achievement of those expectations.

Core Learning Outcomes – Students completing a degree program at Southern State will be equipped with general skills concentrating on communication, solving problems, thinking critically, awareness of the global society, life management skills, information literacy, and technical skills.

This Student Success Plan is presented in accordance with three criteria established by the Ohio Board of Regents:

  1. Define learning outcomes and assess student achievement of those outcomes in General Education.

  2. Define learning outcomes and assess student achievement of those outcomes in undergraduate majors.

  3. Identify and measure the impact of special features of the undergraduate learning experience that occur in institution-wide programs (for example, first-year experience programs, residential learning communities, undergraduate research, study abroad, internships and co-ops, service learning).
