Brown County Pre-employment Training Program
The Pre-Employment Training Program is designed
as a three-day Brown County core curriculum training module. The
mission of the program is to offer training services to those
individuals who are preparing for initial employment, wishing to
update their resumes, or seeking a better understanding of who they
are and where they fit into today's job market. Classes prepare
trainees for the workplace with quality training covering job
readiness, workplace expectations, life and employability skills,
workplace communication, problem solving skills, and entry level
skills. The program is intensive and designed for workers with
limited work experience and/or skills.
The training may include any or all of the following activities.
- One-on-one and group training to reduce
barriers regarding self- esteem, motivation, on-the-job success,
and personal failures.
- Setting goals and identifying personal
values.
- Recognize common errors made by many job
seekers in completing an application or resume and identify
methods for improving these skills.
- Identify and practice positive interview
techniques.
- Learn how to become a more valuable
employee by identifying and practicing positive work habits.
- Workshops on time management, budgeting
expenses, nutrition, stress management, teamwork, health care,
childcare, and basic computer skills.
- Work ethics, sexual harassment, safety in
the workplace.
- Communication skills, problem solving
skills, and customer service skills.
- Utilize the Internet as a source for job
search.
- Practice necessary skills needed in the
workplace such as practical English, work-related math skills, and
basic typing skills.
