SSCC Lady Patriots Receive Victory

On Wed., Nov. 10, the Southern State Community College Lady Patriots’ basketball team traveled to Wright State Lake. SSCC came out ready to play at the start of the game, taking on an early lead with their tremendous shooting and intense defense.

During the second half of the game, SSCC found themselves in more of a challenging position. Their shots were not falling quite as easy and WSL’s increased pressure on the ball caused the Lady Patriots to make a lot of unnecessary turnovers. "We warned the girls at the half to take care of the ball and control the turnovers," said SSCC head women’s basketball coach Glenn Burns. The poor ball handling on the Lady Patriots behalf turned a 20 point game into a close 8 point game. The Lady Patriots fought hard and held on until the buzzer sounded, ending in a 78-71 victory for SSCC.

The stats for each player are as follows: J. Barthel, 3-10 [1-2]  7;  T. Cole, 1-3 [0-0] 1-5  5;  A. Day, 5-7 [0-0] 2-7 16;  E. Gillman, 3-11 [0-0] 6;  A. Knabb, 1-2 [0-0] 2-6 8; M. Pride, 1-3 [0-0]  2; A. Schaad, 4-12 [2-4] 0-2 10; A. Stevens, 1-3 [1-2] 1-2 6; and A. Wesley, 7-9 [1-2] 1-5 18.
