SSCC Announces PTK Inductees
Southern State
Community College held its annual Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Induction
Ceremony for this fall. On Friday, Oct. 29, 30 students, along with
their family and friends, filled the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium to
become members of the PTK National Honor Society, an organization
designed for two-year colleges.
The evening began with a short welcome by PTK advisor
and SSCC faculty member Jeff Montgomery. Following the welcome was
an acceptance of candidates by SSCC president Dr. Lawrence Dukes.
The PTK officer team then provided an explanation of the ceremony to
the audience as well as to the inductees. A pledge of membership
was declared with the inductees signing the chapter record book,
making them official members. Concluding the evening’s events was a
charge to new members with a reception that immediately followed
celebrating the academic achievements that had been accomplished.
