Scholarships Available

Southern State Community College has received information on several scholarship opportunities. The various scholarships are from organizations and individuals who have been or are currently affiliated with the college. Southern State is collecting applications on the particular organization or person’s behalf. For complete applications please contact Southern State’s financial aid office at 1-800-628-7722 ext. 2610.  All scholarships have a deadline of Mar. 15, 2005. Details for each scholarship are as follows:

Bennett Foundation Scholarship-                                                                 Eligibility: Must be a resident of Fayette County.                                                 Criteria: Applicants must have a 3.0 or higher GPA.                                     Scholarship: $500 scholarship award.

Cassner Foundation Scholarship-                                                                       Eligibility: Applicants must be entering students from Highland County at Southern State Community College and are working towards an associates or baccalaureate degree.  Students should also be registered full-time.                                                             Criteria:  Maintenance of a 2.0 GPA or above is required to receive each subsequent disbursement.                                                                                                    Scholarship: Two (2) $3000 scholarship awards.

Edward K. Daniels Foundation Scholarship-                                                        Eligibility:  Must be a continuing drama student at Southern State Community College. Criteria:  Recipients must have a 2.5 GPA or higher.                                              Scholarship: $500 scholarship awarded annually.

Foundation Scholars-                                                                                         Eligibility:  Must be a student from Adams, Brown, Clinton, Fayette, or Highland County. Criteria:  Recipients must have at least a 3.0 GPA or higher and maintain a 2.75 while receiving the scholarship.                                                                                 Scholarship:  Varies depending on how many applicants apply.

Highland County Chamber of Commerce-                                                        Eligibility:  Students must be pursuing a business or industry related degree and have successfully completed a minimum of 15 credit hours of higher education.  Also, applicants or applicant’s parent (s) must be a member of the Highland County Chamber of Commerce.                                                                                                     Criteria:  Must have maintained a 3.0 GPA or higher.                                              Scholarship: $500 scholarship award.

Hodson Foundation Scholarship-                                                                      Eligibility:  Students must be from Highland County and good leadership qualities are necessary.  Applicants can either be full or part-time students.                                   Criteria:  Recipients must have a 2.5 GPA or higher.                                                Scholarship: Two (2) $500 scholarship awards.

Igo Foundation Scholarship-                                                                                 Eligibility:  Must be a current student at Southern State Community College and enrolled in the Office Information Technology or Business Management Program.                Scholarship: $500 scholarship awarded annually.

Paul Neff Scholarship-                                                                                      Eligibility:  Applicants must be from Adams or Brown County and majoring in the Chemical Dependency Program.                                                                               Criteria:  Recipients must have a 2.6 GPA or higher.                                          Scholarship: Two (2) $500 scholarship awards.
