since its founding in 1975, most recently as the college’s
fourth president.
From an initial
pool of 63 candidates, the four finalists were narrowed via a
rigorous review process that has included personal interviews,
background and reference research, and evaluation of resumes and
documentation.
The four
finalists include:

S. Boys, Superintendent of the Loveland City School District
in Loveland, Ohio;
•Dr. Jerry
C. Collins, Director of Undergraduate Studies at the
University of South Florida in Tampa, Fla.;

McWherter, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at
Tri County Technical College in Pendleton, S.C.; and
•Dr.
Charles T. Terrell, Vice President of Workforce Development
Services and Lifelong Learning at Virginia Western Community
College in Roanoke, Va.
Southern State
is inviting the finalists to Central Campus for a Nov. 30
all-day event which will include meet-the-candidate receptions,
follow-up interviews with the board of trustees, and tours of
Central Campus in Hillsboro and South Campus in Fincastle
(candidates have previously toured North Campus in Wilmington
and Fayette Campus in Washington C.H.).
During the
separate meet-the-candidate receptions, members of the college
faculty and staff will have an opportunity to meet and interact
with each finalist.
Arrangements
