SSCC respiratory care program honors 2009 graduates

Southern State Community College’s third graduating class in the respiratory care program was honored during a ceremony held Dec. 12, 2009. The program, which began in 2005, graduated its first class in 2007.

Class representative Kristy Hadden provided the welcome. Following the welcome, the graduates were addressed with comments by Jennifer Mattachione, director of clinical education, James Burton, advisory committee member, and Dr. Sherry A. Stout, then-president of Southern State Community College. Dr. Ryan McCall, SSCC vice president of academic affairs, led the presentation of certificates to the graduates. The health care oath was administered by James Samoya, past director of clinical education, and graduate Jeanette Musselman introduced the class video which was created for her classmates. Closing comments were delivered by Chyane Collins, director of Southern State’s respiratory care program.

Jerry Butcher --“Great student; eager to learn...Jerry did a great job of jumping in and helping out...good work attitude, friendly, asks appropriate questions...good with patient, great coworker...good job, good interaction with patients...good job, thanks!”

Jeff Davison -- “Jeff does a great job and will make a great RRT one day...independent and quick to volunteer...open to constructive comments, self starter, very helpful and detail oriented...Jeff is always professional and helpful, he is a pleasure to teach...very inquisitive, very caring and compassionate about his patients and has great bedside manners, he will make an excellent therapist someday.”

Amanda Fosbrink -- “Amanda is always willing to help, she asks appropriate questions and listens to the response...she is great to work with, can trust her judgment...Amanda did a fantastic job, she has great people skills and keeps her cool when the pressure is on...very observant, great interaction with patients, professional at all times...good patient communication.”

Kristy Hadden -- “Very helpful, very eager to work and observe new things...excellent help, definitely willing to learn, good job...worked well with patients, great job...very good evaluation techniques for patient assessments.”

Nicole Hollar -- “Very helpful, eager to learn, pleasure to work with...excellent with patients, caring, will make a good RT...very professional, she’ll make a fine therapist...uses good communication skills with both patients and staff.”

Joseph Howard -- “Very helpful, independent...very helpful, he went above and beyond what was expected...eager to learn and very self motivated...always willing to learn new things and always willing to get involved in codes or whatever is going on...great job, great students, works well with staff...good job, very excited and enthusiastic.”

Rylee Martin -- “Great job, very helpful, friendly and professional...ready to help, asks when she has a question or needs help...Rylee is helpful, pleasant, appropriate and friendly to patients, she is knowledgeable and confident...always willing to jump into any situation, great interaction with other staff...Rylee is very professional and nice, she does a good job and appreciates her opportunities to learn.”

Jeanette Musselman -- “Pleasure to work with and a great attitude...impressed with skills and ability to learn...Jeanette  is very thorough and efficient, she is very caring of her patients, she will make an excellent therapist...Jeanette is a good student, she is professional and asks appropriate questions for what we are doing...very excited and enthusiastic about being able to perform treatments, very thorough in patient assessments.”
