Southern State soccer team readies for 2010 season

The 2010 men’s soccer team at Southern State Community College is readying for the 2010 season which begins with the Southern State Soccer Shootout VIII to be held Aug. 28-29, with the Patriots pitted against rival Ohio State University Marion.

Coach Josh Thoroman reported that sports physicals were provided by Dr. Roman Matthews, a Southern State graduate and former soccer player with the SSCC Patriots. Dr. Matthews donated his time and expertise for the routine evaluations.

Southern State is a member of the Ohio Collegiate Athletic Conference which also includes Clark State University, UC Clermont, OSU Mansfield, OSU Marion, Ohio Christian University, Temple Baptist and Valor Christian College. Last year, the SSCC team claimed the conference regular season title and conference tournament title.
