Choosing a Career/Major

Choosing a career or a major in college is a bit like putting together a puzzle. One choice works the first time it’s tried; another choice may not work no matter how hard you try to make it fit. Just as the picture on the box helps you complete the puzzle, a destination is required to ensure success in college and beyond.

Planning and choosing a career path begins the moment a student enrolls at SSCC.  Decisions and choices are made along the way.  Determining a major or a career can be difficult if you do not have a clear picture of your strengths, abilities and values.

This is where the Career Services Department can help. We have resources to help you learn about yourself and careers, to help you learn about occupations, and to help you plan your education by choosing majors and careers based on your abilities.
