Program Design: The Practical Nursing program is a four-quarter certificate program combining lecture classes, lab practice, and clinical experience designed to prepare the graduate to be eligible to complete the licensure examination (NCLEX-PN) to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Continuation in the Nursing Program requires a grade of B in all NURS courses and a C or above in all other required courses, including prerequisites.

**The following minimum requirements must be completed prior to the deadline for a student to apply to Nursing. Completion of minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Entry to the nursing program is competitive and based on academic achievements and testing scores.

*For prereqs in quarter calendar, BIOL 205 & 206 must be completed; in semester, BIOL 2205 must be completed. All content of BIOL 205, 206, 207 (or 2205 & 2206) must be completed for program.

Transcripts from any accredited institution (recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation) previously attended (regardless of relevance to nursing)
•  Coursework must be evaluated by SSCC Director of Admissions and posted to SSCC transcript to be counted towards prerequisites.
•  If student has attended more than one school, GPAs will be combined to calculate a cumulative GPA.

Non-nursing courses may be completed prior to entry into the program or during the appropriate semester of the nursing program.

IMPORTANT: BIOL 205, 206 & 207 will be equivalent to BIOL 2205 & 2206 in the semester system. All content must be completed, either under the quarter system or the semester system.
