Food Processing & Technology (441B)

Food Processing & Technology Student

Food scientists develop products and ensure that our food supply is safe. According to Jen Perry, a Postdoctoral Researcher for The Ohio State University, in previous decades to make food safe we just heated it until everything was dead, now consumers are really demanding quality of their food, and they expect everything that they buy, whether is it completely raw or not, to be safe. Food science has job security because people eat every day and always will.

Chow down on this: Jobs in Food Processing and Technology are in high demand. Our Food Processing and Technology program will allow you to enter the workforce in this exciting field or continue to a more advanced degree for an even higher salary. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the 2010 median pay for Agriculture and Food Science Technicians (Associate Degree) was $32,760 per year or $15.75 per hour and for Agriculture and Food Scientists (Bachelor’s Degree) was $58,450 per year or $28.10 per hour.
