Continuing Education

The College’s Office of Continuing Education offers short-term, noncredit courses for personal enrichment, professional development, certification for licensure, and more, in a more relaxed and flexible format. These courses are offered for children, young adults, and adults of all ages. The Office of Continuing Education offers these courses at all of Southern State’s sites and they are listed in a separate publication.

Southern State provides students with the opportunity to obtain Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) for certain non-credit courses and activities. The CEU program encourages long-range educational goals and lifelong learning and permits adult students to utilize a multitude of continuing education resources to enhance their professional skills.

The CEU is used as a basic means for recognizing an individual’s participation in, and for recording an institution’s offering of, noncredit classes, courses and programs. A CEU is defined as ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorships, capable direction, and qualified instruction.
