Financial Aid
Home > Admissions > Financial Aid

“Affordable” – It’s a key word in our mission statement and we take it quite seriously.

  • Pardon us for boasting, but we’re pretty proud that Southern State has consistently offered among the lowest tuition rates in Ohio for quite some time. That’s right, the lowest.
  • You also might be happy to know that 80 percent of our students are eligible for financial aid, and that means you’re probably one of them. By “financial aid,” we mean grants (you don’t have to pay it back), loans (you will pay it back later) and work-study opportunities (you work a few hours per week on campus).
  • Scholarships? Oh yes, free money—we like the sound of that. There are scholarships for athletes, for students majoring in art and nursing and theatre and math, for residents of certain counties; the list is endless. Do yourself a favor and check them out … you might be surprised.

So, where to begin? To get started, visit the “Applying for Financial Aid” page. If more information is needed, you may call our Central Financial Aid Office at 1-800-628-7722 ext 2610 and one of our friendly financial aid experts will assist you. Either way you’ll walk away with a lot of answers and a sense of relief.

(Did we mention we have among the lowest tuition rates in Ohio? OK, just checking.)

Note: Financial Aid is NOT automatically renewed each year. Students must reapply each year to be considered for financial assistance. FAFSA results received prior to July 1st will be considered for priority aid (SEOG and Part-time State Grant). Scholarship applications received by March 15th will receive priority processing as well.

The majority of our students receive financial aid.
There are many sources of financial aid available to you—the key is finding the resources and applying for them. The primary purpose of our financial aid program is to enable qualified students with limited financial resources to attend college. We make every effort to secure the needed funds so that you may attain your educational goals.
