Medical Assisting Trustee Scholarship

These scholarships are granted by the Board of Trustees of Southern State to encourage worthy students to pursue their academic careers. They require that the student enroll for and complete a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours each quarter. English classes below ENGL 101 or mathematics classes below MATH 120 may not be counted toward the 12 credit minimum.

Eligibility is restricted to area high school graduates from the class preceding Fall Quarter with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25. Also required is a letter of recommendation from the high school principal and a written personal statement from the applicant describing his/her goals and extracurricular activities.

Applicants may be interviewed and recommended by a Medical Assisting Department faculty.

Partial or full scholarships are available to Southern State students majoring in one of the Medical Assisting programs. Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 to continue to receive this scholarship throughout the school year. Although this scholarship is not renewable, students can apply yearly.
