In recognition of the need for advanced educational opportunities for qualified high school students, Southern State offers early admission to qualified students.
To qualify, students must:
- present evidence of having completed the sophomore year of high school;
- provide Southern State with a written recommendation from the high school principal or guidance counselor indicating approval of the student’s specific plan of action;
- have demonstrated superior overall academic achievement as evidenced by a transcript which must accompany the student’s early admission application; and
- reflect a level of personal and social maturity that would make it possible for the student to function adequately in a college atmosphere.
Approved early admission students may carry one course each semester during the regular academic year. Under certain circumstances, arrangements may be made to enable high school juniors or seniors to carry more than one course per term. These arrangements must be approved in advance.
Any deviations from the above procedures must be approved by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
