Student Guide and Responsibilities
The Office of Disability Services, along with Southern State, is committed to assuring equal opportunity and full participation for persons with disabilities.
In order for Southern State to provide adequate accommodations, students with a disability are required to contact the Office of Disability Services.
According to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a disability is defined as:
-
a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities such as walking, seeing, hearing, performing manual tasks, or learning;
-
a record of such impairment; or being regarded as having such an impairment.
-
Psychological problems and some chronic health problems may also be characterized as a disability.
