Academic Council Minutes
May 24, 2002
Present: Bill Worpenberg, Karen Newby, Ric Shrubb, Marsha Snyder, Sherry Stout, Dr. Cronan (presiding)
The following topics were discussed and conclusions reached:
· The orientation week in September will be similar to the one last year except that on Wednesday, a full-day workshop on Active Learning will be held, primarily for faculty but all College employees are invited.
· The advisory committee breakfast in October was discussed. The individuals involved in this activity will send out an agenda later.
· The adjunct orientation was discussed. It was also suggested that someone follow-up adjuncts to make sure they get their official transcripts in. Karen Newby graciously volunteered to assume this task. Dr. Cronan and Dr. Shrubb said they would send copies of credentials and the names of new adjuncts to Karen.
· Karen Newby distributed a composite task analysis for campus directors. She will revise it and indicate those items that are specific to one particular campus only and redistribute it.
· The new faculty coordinatorships and their functions were discussed. Some general recommendations were made for discussion with appropriate faculty groups.
· A discussion of meeting dynamics as mediated by institutional history and culture was enjoyed by all.
