MINUTES
ACADEMIC COUNCIL
September 10, 2001
South Campus
Present: Bill Worpenberg, Sherry Stout, Karen Newby,
Ric Shrubb,
Dr. Cronan (presiding)
The following topics were
discussed:
- Schedules for winter and spring – Dr. Cronan
distributed drafts of the winter and spring schedules, along with the
term-by-term schedule of courses to be offered for each program on each
campus. He asked for review by the end of the month. He indicated that
schedules for 2002-2003 should be completed by the end of the fall term.
- Summer schedule - Dr. Cronan will distribute a
draft summer schedule for 2002. He indicated that the guideline for
running classes in the summer will need to be ten (10) from now on. Last
summer almost half the classes had fewer than ten (10) and the revenues
from the classes from summer school were much lower than from the
preceding summer.
- Staffing - Dr. Cronan indicated that Rosemary
would only be working about a half a day per week after September and that
the winter and spring scheduling will need to be done by deans, so
everyone was advised to start early on the staffing.
- Orientation week activities - Each activity was
reviewed.
