October 15, 2004

Meeting was called to order by Bob Headley at 10:30

Agenda was approved

Minutes were approved (Ginny Ferguson/Terry Flum) with one clarification. Bob said he asked for a resolution on a course outline requirement for all official course syllabi at the October Faculty Senate meeting, and it will be voted on when the senate meets again in November.

Old Business

PRAC 102/Fundamentals of Nursing – Teresa Grooms – A course objective was reworded according to law. Bruce Fugate moved to accept and Terry Flum seconded. Motion carried.

Bob Headley – Update on ADA/FERPA compliance statements. Bob said he e-mailed the Ohio attorney general’s office and hadn’t received a response to his questions. Sherry Stout has a friend in the AG’s office, so he will have Sherry work on this. Regarding FERPA specifically, Bob said he couldn’t find a document stating what FERPA information is supposed to be included on course syllabi. It appears that there is no set statement used by colleges and universities. A follow up report will be given at the next Curriculum Committee meeting.

New Business

Practical Nursing Program 432 and Registered Nursing Program 430 – Brenda Tilton and Kelly Colliver - Adjustment to the programs due to changes in the biology sequence. Terry Flum moved to accept and Jeff Ladrach seconded. Motion carried.

Emergency Medical Services Program 494 – Bruce Fugate – Adjustment to program due to biology sequence changes. Terry Flum moved to approve and Ginny Ferguson seconded. Motion carried.

LSCI 130 (Utilization of LRC Materials) – Louis Mays – Proposed changes to the syllabus, adding a Web CT section and more emphasis on projects. Ginny Ferguson moved to accept and George Carver seconded. Motion carried.

MAST 212 (Medical Transcription I) MAST 214 (Advanced Medical Terminology and Transcription) and MAST 217 (Medical Transcription III) – Jeff Ladrach – For all three courses, students must purchase their own headphones. This is added to the Other Required Materials section of the syllabus for each course.

ECED 210 (Administration of Early Childhood Education) Becky Storer - Tabled

Terry Flum announced that a review to the Curriculum Committee manual is needed. This topic will be placed on next month’s agenda under old business.
