Committee Meeting

Minutes from last meeting will be brought to next meeting on 12/1/00 for approval.
(1) Curriculum committee will meet the first Friday of every month for this school year (2000-2001)
(2) President – Michele McCarren

Secretary – Brenda Tilton (Laura Shively will continue to attend to keep us on track)
Articulation Sub-Committee (see attached)
(1) First ad-hoc meeting held with following results:
(A) Discussion held about articulation in general.
(B) It was decided not to debate issue but to set up a policy and procedure on how to set up an agreement, and then have the person wanting the agreement to set it up and bring it to curriculum for approval.
(C) We currently have agreements with Ohio Valley Vocational in Agriculture and Head Start for early childhood education for the CDA training.
(D) If comments or concerns please get those to the Articulation committee.
(1) & (2) Articulation agreements with Greenfield Police Academy and Southern Hills Vocational School Police Academy. Motion to approve – Ed Daniels, second – Jon Davidson, motion passed. (approved)
(3) Computer Tech – generalist degree
(4) Computer Tech – technical support
(5) Computer Tech – multimedia
(6) Computer Tech – networking
Needed to clean up paper work and credit hours. Discussion held on how these changes benefit engineering and computer technology departments. Motion to approve – Ed Daniels, second – Marilyn Jones, motion passed. (approved)
(7) CSCI 260 – C Programming
(8) CSCI 240 – System Analysis
Course objectives changed and new book. Motion to pass – Ed Daniels, second – Kathy Daniels, motion passed. (approved)
(9) PHYS 221 – tabled
(10) MATH 221 – tabled
(11) MATH 222 – tabled
(12) MATH 223 – tabled
(13) MATH 224 – tabled
(14) ENGL 240 – Draft for new course sent for review will discuss at next meeting. (see attached)
(15) PRAC 199 – Review course for NCLEX-PN will do as seminar Winter 2001 then bring before curriculum for approval as course. Elective in Practical Nursing. Motion – Ed Daniels, second – Marilyn Jones. (approved)
(16) Kathy Daniels asked about course approved by committee but not signed by previous Dean – does this need to come back through curriculum? No – not unless changes are needed.
(17) Discussion held on whether we as a college need to require history as a course to graduate. This issue is being reviewed by the assessment committee and Jon Davidson will bring report on their decision in December meeting.
(18) Congratulations to the computer science department on their approval from the Board of Regents for associates in applied science degree.
