TECHNOLOGY ROUNDTABLE
9/19/03

Present: Dennis Griffith, Bruce Fugate, Sue Leach,
Shirley Cornwell, Virginia Ferguson, Julia Basham, Kristi Hall, Louie Mays, Zana Smith (for Sherry Stout), Terry Flum,
Dr. Cronan (presiding)
- Kristi
gave a report on the symposium she had attended at Cornell this summer,
covering all the current issues related to computer usage, including the
Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
She indicated that we have to
identify an agent for the DMCA. Dr. Cronan indicated
that at one time he had asked Josh to assume this duty, but that he had not
sent the name to the copyright office. Dr. Cronan
agreed to follow-up.
- A
discussion of the use of social security numbers as ID numbers resulted in
the formation of a sub-committee to make a recommendation on the use of ID
numbers for faculty, staff and students, including pricing
information. Bruce Fugate agreed to
convene the committee for its first meeting. The other members are: Louie
Mays; Dennis Griffith; Sue Leach; Shirley Cornwell; and Kristi Hall.
- Dr. Cronan indicated that the monitoring forms as of June
30 had been sent out on e-mail. He asked the TLTR to review the entire
plan and send him suggestions as to what should be changed for the next
three years. He will report back at the next meeting.
- After
discussion, it was decided that the TLTR will meet next on October 17, at 12:30 p.m.
