Meeting Minutes

Attendees: David Hoffman, Bill Worpenberg, Nicole Roades, Don Storer, Jody Gray

Report on previous meeting

• We discussed the levels of assessment
• Review the summary handout provided by Bill.
• Some misunderstanding with the previously mentioned “general education” level. We have since changed to the “college wide level”

- Discussion – We may wan to consider yet another change and call it “core learning level”

- Discussion – Change institutional back to “college wide”

- Discussion – Change degree/program level to “program level”

- Suggestion – offer some examples for each level prior to distribution

Upcoming Professional Development

• Will be based on Program and Discipline level assessment
• Provide breakfast
• Recommendations

- Email the faculty the packet prior to the workshop

- Up to three goals

- Faculty should maybe consider bringing their course syllabi and other appropriate materials.

- Add to, “How do we accomplish these goals?” With a lot of help from you.

- Maybe the committee could send examples of educational, cognitive, and attitudinal.

- Move page 7 prior to the examples

Discussion: Examples of learning outcomes

• Initially the outcomes look somewhat vague.
• Should we use outcomes and objectives?
• We need to make this as clear as possible.
• The titles of the example pages will be “Examples of Program Learning Outcomes” and “Examples of Discipline Learning Examples”
• Incorporate a visual of our levels of assessment. (Org chart?) Don could help me put it into a power point and we could use some creativity in putting it into something visually appealing.

Other:

• Check on the nursing room 103 for our workshop.

• Incorporate a rubric example for the English example.

- Using rubrics- Ruberics can be helpful for subjective skills such as presentation skills, participation, etc.

• The workshop will be facilitated by the entire committee.

• Nicole will work with Bill on preparing the handout material for the workshop.
