Online instructors expect students to
access their Blackboard course on the
first day of the quarter.  To access a
Blackboard course, follow the instructions below.

1. The first step is to make sure your computer is Blackboard ready. You can do that at http://pollux.sscc.edu. Click on CHECK BROWSWER BUTTON which will check to see if your computer is set up to access your course management system, Blackboard, correctly.

2. Go to https://portal.sscc.edu/index.htm
This link will take you directly to the MY SSCC PORTAL WEBSITE

a. My Student Records - this is your access page to your school related records.

b. My Blackboard - which is your online course login page to Blackboard managed courses.

c. My Webmail - this is your access to your school email account. You should check it often.

d. My LRC - this is your access to your Learning Resource Center (library).

e. My Help Desk - this is your access to the SSCC Help Desk so you can request assistance with computer related questions like online course login issues.
3. Enter your Blackboard ID and Password in the Log into My Blackboard area.
Your Blackboard ID is the first four (4) characters of your last name followed by the 10th through 13th digits of your Student ID Barcode number. This number appears on the back of your Student ID card. Again, it is the 10th thru 13th digits - NOT THE LAST FOUR DIGITS!!!  Your initial password is the last (4) digits of your Social Security number. Change this initial password the first time you log on to your Blackboard account. Be sure to record your new password.
Example: A student named Jane Austen enrolls in an online course. Her Student ID number is 27722123456789. Her social security number is 987-65-4321. Jane’s WebCT ID is aust5678. Her initial password is 4321.If you have not received a Student ID, contact the Student Records Office. If you have lost your Student ID, contact the Central Campus Learning Resource Center for a replacement.
4. After entering your Blackboard ID and Password, click the Log In button. This will take you to your Blackboard home area where you’ll see a link to your course(s). Click on this link to access your course(s). You need to say NO when asked if you want to block components. You need to run the JAVA components!!!
Do NOT Block JAVA components!
Important: You will not be able to access your Blackboard home area or online course until the first day of the quarter. You should log into your Blackboard online class the first day of the quarter, which for Fall Quarter will be Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at midnight.

You MUST BE LOGGED IN NO LATER THAN Wednesday, September 21 at midnight
to be considered as attending and staying enrolled in that specific online class.  If you are unable to log in from home, you need to get to a campus location and log into your Blackboard Course. If you have logon or access problems, contact the Help Desk immediately. Be sure to give the Help Desk your full name and the name of your online course and your school email address, your student ID number, and a phone number and email address where you can be reached should they have any additional questions.  You can reach the Help Desk by calling 1-800-628-7722 Ext. 2800 or emailing the Help Desk at helpdesk@sscc.edu.
