Math 118 Intermediate Algebra Spring, 2007 Professor: Jon Davidson
Learning math the online way has its conveniences but also its drawbacks. Most students find that they must devote more time to studying for an online math class than an ordinary class. Success depends partially on your willingness to do a lot of reading, a lot of practicing, asking questions, managing your time, and working at it four to six days a week. You also will need to frequently check your e-mail, at least every other day. The prerequisite for this course amounts to either being placed into the course by an advisor, or by passing Math 117 Elementary Algebra. We strongly recommend that only students who have earned an A or B in Math 117 or their high school equivalent consider taking this online version. If it has been a year or more since you have taken an algebra then it is usually a bad idea to sign up for this online course. There have been exceptions where students with a C in their previous course have survived, but they are few. If you want to enroll in this online course I just want you to answer a few questions. Failure to contact me by Friday, Mar. 31st may result in you being bumped from this course. If you normally use a different e-mail address than the one from which you contact me from, let me know that as well. Please send me an e-mail when you are ready by answering the following questions:
When you are ready please send your responses to my e-mail address by clicking on this link: math@sscc.edu You should receive a reply from me in a day or two. If you have further questions feel free to e-mail me or call me at Central Campus, ext. 2648. If you are serious and ready for the online math experience then I look forward to having you in class!
