December, 2002 - Carissa Thatcher, MHP Library Services employee receives Touch of Mercy Award. The following article describes Carissa's efforts.

A MHC employee, Marcia Sutton, received a phone call from friends that a nephew in France was in a coma, recently diagnosed with scleraderma. They were requesting any information about the disease since the socialized medicine system in France does not offer any information to the public, treatment is limited, and it is difficult to move a patient to a larger facility to receive more advanced treatment. They wanted to fax this information to their family in France, so any information provided needed to be translated. Carissa not only responded the same day, but she also had the information translated and sent it to them. The family was so grateful. Marcia nominated Carissa for a Touch of Mercy because she felt proud that our hospital might provide a family with the information to save a life across the sea.
