Lynchburg Soccer Standout to play for Southern State

Steven Sams has signed a national letter of intent to play soccer at Southern State Community College. Sams is a senior at Lynchburg Clay and he is the son of Mike and Carol Sams.

Sams served as team captain his junior and senior year. He led the Mustangs to their first gold soccer ball in school history with a perfect 7-0 team record in the Southern Hills League during 2006. Sams was the leading scorer for Lynchburg this season as well. Sams was named rookie of the year his freshman year when he also played for the varsity team.

“I am excited to add Sams to the team.  By choosing Southern State he is really opening up some great opportunities for himself both in the classroom and on the soccer field.  He comes from a strong high school program and he has a great work ethic.  He will contribute right away at Southern State,” stated SSCC head soccer coach Josh Thoroman.
