Students in Action, what exactly does that mean?

It means we are students that get involved!  If there is a need we would like to help with it whether its doing a clothing drives, purchasing gifts for children at Christmas, painting an outreach center or helping to "Make a Wish" come true for a very special person. That is what this group is about helping others.

Who started this group?

This group was founded by a  group of students and faculty members in November of 2002 at Southern State Community College. We meet usually at the college's Central Campus, but each campus has it's own group that work in depended of each other on projects. Each group stays in communication with the other by using our Yahoo Group. For more information, or if you would like to become involved you may contact one of the following Faculty advisors, or go directly to the Yahoo Group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sscc_sia/ and join.

Who do we help?

We want to help anyone in our communities that has a need. we are trying to be a true community service group that works on the grassroots level. We enjoy going out and helping people. We don't do it because it is required of us, we do it because we care and for most of us we have been in need of help from others ourselves, so now its our chance to pay it back. We know we can't help every body with every thing, but we can help by doing what we can do and that is better than not doing nothing.

Why Join Students in Action?

Because it is a very rewarding experiences that you'll walk away with, you will have a chance to give your time and talents to the communities and the project that you care about. you will gain leadership experience, meet some great people, and of course have lots of fun.
