Resources Effectively Advocating Community
Help (REACH) - Formed
by SSCC students, REACH is an organization that is also open to
community members. The club’s purpose is to provide leadership,
education, and resources through advocating and volunteering for
fellow students and members of the community. Among the many
activities conducted by this group include charitable fundraisers,
sponsoring community and school events, and presenting resources to
students and community members. Persons interested in joining this
active group may call the college at 800-628-7722.
Students in Action - Students in Action is a service organization. The group was established by Bill Horne and Steve Witham. Horne, a business and economics instructor, serves as the faculty advisor and Witham is an accounting and computer-programming student at the college. This organization is open to all Southern State students. The only membership requirement is that the individual has an interest in helping his or her school and the community. Participation is always encouraged and the events involve students, faculty, administration, family, and friends. To find out more information or to become a member of Students in Action contact the College at 1-800-628-7722.
Student Government - The purpose of
Southern State Community College Student Government Association is
to represent the student population on all campuses by pursuing
social, political, academic and administrative initiatives of
interest to our student body. In addition, the Southern State
Community College Student Government Association shall act as a
liaison between the student body and the college administration, the
overall college community and other individuals and organizations.
The ultimate task of the Southern State Community College Student
Government Association is to address the needs, problems and
concerns of the student body and to carefully listen to suggestions
from the student body, faculty, and administration.
