Marketing and Public Relations
                                                              
The Marketing and Public Relations Department is staffed by an administrative assistant and two directors. The primary functions of this office include the college’s advertising, marketing, public relations, graphic design, and facility requests.

Facility Requests                                 Each campus has facility request forms that need to be completed as space is at a premium on all campuses. As a general rule, requests for space need to be made at a minimum of two weeks in advance. To make a facility request, please contact the Marketing and Public Relations Assistant, Leona Purdin, at (937) 393-3431, ext. 2606 or email lpurdin@sscc.edu.

Advertising                                        Should the need arise to advertise an event or other activity, please coordinate your efforts with the Marketing and Public Relations Department as the office serves as a clearinghouse for any advertisements representing Southern State. Questions regarding the college's advertising should be directed to the Director of Marketing, Elizabeth Burkard, at (937) 393-3431, ext. 2624 or email eburkard@sscc.edu.

News Media                                              A variety of academic stories pertaining to Southern State are distributed to our local newspapers and radio stations in the form of news releases and public service announcements on a regular basis. Questions regarding the college's local media should be directed to the Director of Public Relations, Kris Cross, at (937) 393-3431, ext. 2676 or email kcross@sscc.edu.

 *Please note: Prior to sharing sensitive information with the media, please remember the following:

  • Never speak on behalf of Southern State Community College.
  • Refrain from publicly comparing experiences at clinical sites.
  • If providing personal opinions on any subject matter, ensure that the reporter clearly notes your comments are personal opinions and do not necessarily speak for the opinion of Southern State.
  • Do not speak “off the record” to a reporter.
  • If faced with a situation in which you are uncomfortable answering questions, refer the reporter to the Marketing and Public Relations Office.

Event Coordination                                The Marketing and Public Relations Office assists in coordinating special events at each Southern State campus through publicity and promotions.
