Nature of Profession

Logistics is the movement and storage of goods from the beginning to the end of the supply chain; it is the largest piece of Supply Chain Management (SCM). SCM is the work connected to strategic planning, coordination and management of the design, manufacture and delivery of a final product. SCM includes collaboration with all channel partners across businesses as well as with customers. It is essential to the success of many companies, but it also plays a role in military success, responses to disasters and international efforts to feed the hungry.
