The Southern State Community College COVID-19 Transitional Recovery Plan
The Southern State Community College COVID-19 Transitional Recovery Plan is based on the guidance from a variety of sources including the CDC, Ohio Department of Health and the local county health departments in which SSCC operations take place. Policies and protocols in formulating a transitional plan, related to recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, will be rooted in the health and safety for our faculty, staff, students and the public with whom we interact.
Introduction and Welcome from Our President - Kevin Boys Ed.D.
As most are aware, Governor DeWine lifted most health orders including Ohio's state-wide mask mandate effective June 2, 2021. At that time, masks will no longer be required on campus, but remain STRONGLY recommended for those who are not fully vaccinated. There may be individual circumstances in which face coverings will be required, to participate in the learning experiences, and those will be determined in conjunction with the course expectations. As we enter this welcomed state of recovery, we want to remain respectful of one another's health information. To that end, we will not be asking students or employees whether or not they have been vaccinated, and would highly recommend that students and employees extend the same consideration.
We will continue to maintain our cleaning, Plexiglas partitions, and sanitation procedures moving forward.
I believe we have emerged from the worst part of this pandemic and look forward to better days ahead for our college, our friends and our families. We can all take credit for this, at least at the College, as the plan we put into place and your part in adhering to it enabled us to reopen last summer and have a most successful academic year. THANK YOU for doing your part. It continues to be up to all of us. If you've not been vaccinated yet, I would urge you to do so. It will become your best personal protection as Ohio's health orders on face coverings and social distancing relax. We've come this far... let's not quit now!
Be well and stay well,
Kevin Boys Ed.D.
