Healthy CONNECT Pledge

Banner for Health Connect Pledge

The health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors will always be the number one priority for Southern State Community College. As our campuses seek to re-engage in a post-pandemic environment, our Recovery phase will emphasize adopting processes and procedures that are adaptable to any circumstance. As such, they will rest heavily on strengthening the foundation of self-responsibility and accountability.

We trust that everyone will exercise a common sense approach in their actions; however, if your personal accountability is enhanced by official declarations, you are certainly invited to consider the Southern State Healthy CONNECT Pledge.

Thank you in advance for helping maintain a healthy and safe working and learning environment.

The Pledge

Reduce Risk

I understand the risks of being in the community and on campus and understand that I may be exposed to COVID-19 and other infections despite the risk-reduction efforts of Southern State Community College.

I pledge to take responsibility for my own health and help protect others on campus and in the community.

  • In order to reduce my risk and the risk to others, I pledge to engage in prevention, conduct daily symptom monitoring and, if indicated, participate in testing, isolation procedures, outlined in the recovery plan.

Seek Prevention

I will engage in recommended preventative measures to protect myself and others in the reduction of risk for disease transmission.

Daily Symptom Monitoring

I will conduct daily symptom monitoring for the following symptoms and I WILL NOT COME to CAMPUS for classes or activities if I have any symptoms and it is recommended that I seek medical attention if I am feeling ill.

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
  • Fever of 100.4 or higher
  • Chills
  • Repeated shaking with chills
  • Body aches/muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Follow Recommended Guidance

I understand that it is recommended that I contact my health care provider if I experience any symptoms above and follow their instructions, including testing for COVID-19. Should I become exposed, I will follow exposure guidelines, should I receive a positive test, I will follow isolation guidelines recommended by the CDC.

Self-Care is a Daily Priority

Whatever I'm going through today, help is available. I promise to talk to someone if I experience threats to my mental, emotional, and/or physical health and encourage others to do the same.

I recognize that Counseling Resources links Southern State students and employees who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, suicide, relationship problems, or other mental health needs with information and contacts to local professional counselors.

Being a part of Southern State Community College, I am not alone. I understand this Pledge is a commitment to be honored for the health and safety for myself and others. We can do this together. I will do my very best to Stay Healthy and Stay CONNECTed as part of the SSCC family.
