Southern State Community College strives to provide every student with a successful and positive educational experience. As part of its continuous improvement efforts, the College maintains systems and procedures to address and resolve legitimate student and community concerns. In many cases, the Department of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management facilitates these processes. In other cases, such as academic or grade disputes, concerns are directed to the appropriate division or department for timely resolution. The College's Procedure on Student Complaints and Grade Disputes (Academic Appeals Process) is included in the Academic Regulations section of the College Catalog.

My concern is both a complaint and a grade dispute. Which process should I use to resolve these concerns?
The College's Procedure on Student Complaints and Grade Disputes lists two distinct and separate processes. The Academic Concern link above will initiate the student complaint process as outlines on p. 63 of the College Catalog. the appeal process can be initiated with the Dispute a Grade Link and following the steps for appealing a grade found on p. 62 of the College Catalog. If you are appealing a grade, you do not need to also fill out a complaint form unless it is a separate concern from the disputed grade.
I have a concern that involves the immediate safety of an individual. What should I do?

The College cannot accept complaints filed anonymously, and in order to investigate your complaint we would need a method of communicating with you. Any complaints received are kept confidential.
