Info sessions on SSCC’s Home & Mold Inspection classes- Through a partnership with Parker Training Services, Southern State Community College will provide continuing education programs in Home Inspection and Mold Inspection.
SSCC plans Appalachian Skills Camp from June 17–21- There are lots of summer camps, but only one like the Appalachian Skills Camp. Designed for students entering grades 4 and up, the 2013 Appalachian Skills Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, June 17–21, at Southern State Community College’s South Campus.
Grounds for Celebration: Work on New SSCC Campus Begins- Passersby will soon notice a transformation taking place as a barren tract of land is prepped for the two-story, 50,000-square-foot complex of Southern State Community College’s newest campus.
Early Education students mark SSCC degree completion- Eleven students in Southern State Community College’s early education program completed their practicum experience and earned their associate of applied science degrees.

Adams County judge selected as SSCC commencement speaker- The Honorable Brett M. Spencer has been chosen to deliver the commencement address at Southern State Community College on May 3.
Southern State students inducted into PTK honor society- The membership of one of higher education’s most recognized honor societies, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), was enhanced by the induction of several new members at an April 12 ceremony on the Central Campus of Southern State Community College.
24 complete Southern State’s practical nursing program- The 46th class of Southern State Community College’s practical nursing program was honored during a special recognition ceremony held March 28 on the college’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.
Southern State to present spring concerts- Southern State Community College will celebrate the season with a pair of spring concerts April 27 and 28.

Regional high school students claim SSCC Art Showcase honors- The annual Appalachian Gateway Regional High School Art Showcase was held Feb. 28 on Southern State Community College’s South Campus in Fincastle, with students in Southern State’s region claiming honors for outstanding artistic talent.
SSCC Theatre presents 'Lend Me a Tenor' April 5–7- SSCC Theatre proudly presents Ken Ludwig’s "Lend Me a Tenor," playing 7:30 p.m. on April 5 and 6, and 3:30 p.m. on April 7, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central Campus.

SSCC marks Entrepreneurship Week with info sessions- Entrepreneurship is not about "taking a job," it’s all about creating your own dream career. In recognition of National Entrepreneurship Week, Southern State Community College is hosting "Let’s Talk Entrepreneurship" informational sessions Feb. 19 and 20 on all four campus locations.

SSCC partners with Franklin University to offer bachelor’s degree- Franklin University and Southern State Community College (SSCC) hosted an event Dec. 6 to officially mark the signing of the co-location agreement between the two institutions which will allow the offering of Franklin classes at SSCC’s Fayette Campus in Washington Court House.

Pell, Hall sworn in as Southern State trustees- At the Sept. 12 meeting of the Southern State Community College Board of Trustees, Adams County Judge Alan Foster presided over the swearing in of new trustee Mike Pell of Adams County and reappointed trustee Paul Hall of Brown County.
Progress on SSCC’s plan for new campus in Mt. Orab- With a projected opening for Fall 2014, Southern State Community College is making steady progress on plans for its newest campus along state Route 32 in Mt. Orab.

SSCC soccer sabotaged at Mid Michigan Community College- Southern State Community College’s men’s soccer team fell 0–2 to Mid Michigan Community College in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., on Aug. 25.

U.S. Bank makes donation to SSCC Foundation- U.S. Bank has been a significant contributor to Southern State, totaling more than $15,000 in donation over the years resulting in numerous scholarships to Southern State students.
SSCC soccer begins 2012 season with a win- On Aug. 24, the Southern State Patriots men’s soccer team made the five-hour trip to Lansing, Mich., where they defeated Great Lakes Christian College (2011 NCCAA II regional semifinalists) by a score of 4–1.
SSCC Basic Peace Officers complete training- The cadets of Southern State Community College’s Basic Peace Officers Training Program were recognized at a special ceremony held August 16 at the college’s Fayette Campus in Washington Court House.

Adams County man appointed as SSCC trustee- Ohio Gov. John R. Kasich’s office has filled an open seat on the Southern State Community College Board of Trustees with the appointment of Michael P. Pell of West Union in Adams County.
SSCC electromechanical engineering degree offered in Manchester- Three local institutions have partnered to offer an Electromechanical Engineering degree in Manchester and those interested can learn more about it during an Aug. 1 tour and informational session.
Wells introduced as new SSCC women’s basketball coach- Matt Wells will take the helm as the new head coach of women’s basketball at Southern State Community College. Wells is a veteran on the court, with coaching credentials at Mt. Orab Junior High, Western Brown High School, Williamsburg High School, Amelia High School and, most recently, as the varsity coach of East Clinton High School.
McAvene takes helm as new SSCC men’s basketball coach- Travis McAvene has been named the new head coach for men’s basketball at Southern State Community College. McAvene brings a strong reputation of winning basketball games and coaching elite talent.
SSCC Great Strides event raises $4,000 for Cystic Fibrosis- The weather was perfect for the Great Strides: Taking Steps to Cure Cystic Fibrosis event held recently at Southern State Community College’s Fayette Campus in Washington Court House.
SSCC Patri-Tots’ Summer Fest slated for July 21- The Patri-Tots Learning Center will host a Summer Fest open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, at the North Campus location.
HUBZone workshop offered free at Southern State- Southern State Community College is hosting a free Small Business Administration (SBA) "HUBZone Boot Camp" from 9–11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at the college’s Enterprise Center.
