  • At the Nov. 12 meeting of the Southern State Community College Board of Trustees, Fayette County Probate Court Judge David B. Bender presided over the swearing in of Bob McEwen whose appointment fills one of four vacancies on the college’s board.
  • Veterans Day Concert SSCC to perform Nov. 16 Veterans Day concert
  • The Southern State Community Band and Southern State Singers will honor our nation’s heroes with a Veterans Day concert 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central Campus.

This is the advice that Kelly Collison, Associate Director of Programming for Dress for Success Cincinnati, repeated to guests at Highland County’s first ever Dress for Success event held Thursday at the Highland County Training and Employment Center (Hi-TEC) in Hillsboro.
  • Bob McEwen Bob McEwen appointed as Southern State trustee
  • Ohio Gov. John R. Kasich’s office has announced an appointment to the Southern State Community College Board of Trustees. Hillsboro native Bob McEwen will serve for a term continuing through May 11, 2018.

  • The cadets of Southern State Community College’s Basic Peace Officers Training Program were recognized at a special ceremony held July 10 at the college’s Fayette Campus in Washington Court House.

  • Southern State Community College’s eighth graduating class in the respiratory care program was honored during a recent ceremony on the college’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.

  • The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting 1 p.m. Monday, June 30, in Room 149 of Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro, for the purpose of holding an executive session to consider the acquisition and sale of property.
  • Macbeth SSCC Theatre presents 'Macbeth' July 25-27
  • SSCC Theatre will present William Shakespeare’s "Macbeth," at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26, and at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on the Central Campus.

  • COLUMBUS – State finance expert and veteran public higher education advocate Jack Hershey has been named the new President and CEO of the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC).
  • Electromechanical Students Info session set May 29 for SSCC’s electromechanical degree
  • Through a partnership between Southern State Community College and the DP&L Generation Center, students can earn an associate degree in Electromechanical Engineering or take general education courses that will fit into most academic pathways, all at the site in Manchester.
  • Nurse, Computer Technician Info session for SSCC, Scioto Tech partnership set for May 28
  • Through a partnership between Southern State Community College and Scioto County Career Technical Center, students can now earn an associate degree in Computer Information Technology, Law Enforcement, or LPN-RN, all on the Scioto Tech site in Lucasville.
  • SSCC Aviation Maintenance Students Info session planned May 20 for SSCC’s aviation degree
  • An associate’s degree in Engineering: Aviation Maintenance is now offered through a partnership between Southern State Community College and Great Oaks Career Campuses. Those interested in learning more about the program are invited to a May 20 orientation and informational session; classes begin Aug. 25.
  • Dr. William T. Henry and Dr. Terry Flum SSCC to host free Biotech 2014 workshop on May 16
  • Southern State Community College will offer Biotech 2014 Edvotek Workshop: Biotechnology Applications for Agriculture and Education from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, on the college’s Fayette Campus.
  • John Bush, Paula Campagna, Shannon Cornett SSCC students named to All-Ohio Academic Team
  • Sixty of the highest achieving community-college students from around Ohio were honored Wednesday, April 30, as part of the All-Ohio Academic Team Awards. Seven students from Southern State Community College were included in the honors.

  • SSCC PTK Inductees 2014 Southern State students inducted into PTK honor society
  • The membership of one of higher education’s most recognized honor societies, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), was enhanced by the induction of several new members at an April 19 ceremony on the Central Campus of Southern State Community College.
  • Macbeth Auditions SSCC Theatre sets ‘Macbeth’ auditions this weekend
  • SSCC Theatre is pleased to announce upcoming auditions for the summer production of William Shakespeare’s "Macbeth." Open to community members and students, auditions will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, and 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central Campus.
  • Board Meeting SSCC Board of Trustees to meet April 9
  • The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will meet 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, for a tour of the Mt. Orab Campus, followed by a 5:30 regular meeting at Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley, 215 Hughes Blvd., Mt. Orab.
  • Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor John Carey Chancellor meets with Southern State students
  • John Carey, Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor, visited the Fayette Campus of Southern State Community College Monday to meet with students and discuss the new community college funding formula that is currently in the Ohio legislature.

  • SSCC Theatre proudly presents John Cariani’s "Almost, Maine," playing April 4-6 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

  • College Graduates Education fares well in Governor’s annual address
  • In his fourth State of the State address, Gov. John Kasich placed high importance on learning initiatives in Ohio, specifically citing the move to performance-based funding and the community college's role in workforce development, college credit in high school, and GED attainment.
