Associate of Arts

Requirements
To receive an Associate of Arts, the student must complete course work that satisfies the following guidelines:
- 1. Ohio Transfer 36 (36 semester credit hours) must be satisfied.
- 2. A minimum total of 60 semester credit hours of courses numbering 1100 or above must be successfully completed.
- 3. Course work must be distributed in the following manner (in all cases, courses taken to satisfy Ohio Transfer 36 may be included in these totals):
English / Communications – 9 hours
Social Sciences – 9 hours
Courses from at least two areas
Mathematics & Science – 9 hours
At least one course in mathematics and two courses in science
Arts & Humanities – 12 hours
Courses from at least two areas
Electives – 21 hours
Students are to plan their program with the help and approval of their Advisor.
Students with specific baccalaureate goals should meet the degree requirements with electives that are approved by an advisor at the receiving institution.
Concentrations
A concentration is an academic focus within an Associates of Arts or Science Degree. For example, a student who is planning to Transfer to a four-year institution for Engineering may be interested in pursuing a concentration in Mathematics.
Students must meet all requirements for the Associate of Arts or Science Degree, and Ohio Transfer 36 to qualify for a concentration, and need to plan their program with the help and approval of their Advisor.
Business Management
The Business Management concentration consists of a total of 12 credit hours from the following six courses:
Education - Primary Education
Education - Middle Childhood Education (grades 4-9) / Adolescence to Young Adult Education (grades 7-12) / Career Technical Education (grades 4-12)
Education - Intervention Specialist Education (grade bands vary)
Health, Fitness, and Exercise Science
Minimum of twelve credit hours earned from the following courses:
Students may use this concentration for either an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science pathway.
